Verbose - Using language that is too long-winded or complicated

It is based on the Latin root Verbum meaning word. Verbum is also the root of words – Verbal, verb, verbatim, etc.

Pronounced as Verb + Ose (from Dose) {Listen to it here}

Situational Uses / Sentences:

  • Verbose articles run the risk of losing the reader’s attention.
  • “Conciseness in art is essential and a refinement. The concise man makes one think; the verbose bores. Always work towards conciseness.” – Édouard Manet
